TAB’s markets for the Gippsland Carnival’s sprinting and staying streams are starting to take shape following the first legs being run and won on Boxing Day at Sale.
Dundee Osprey has shortened into $4.00 second favouritism to win the distance stream after winning the Sale Cup and rocketing to the top of the leaderboard with 24 points, but trainer Geoff Scott-Smith was hesitant to commit to racing his triple Group 1 winner in the remaining staying legs of the Gippsland Carnival.
Aston Bolero’s win in the Sprint Launch at Sale sees him now a $10.00 favourite to win the Sprint stream. He shares the lead with Aussie Infrared ($12.00) on 22 points. Story courtesy of GRV.org.au
Outstanding sire Barcia Bale has again confirmed his position as Australia's number 1 sire on the AGRA rankings with 667 points at the end of May, leading by a massive 250 points from Fabregas who is currently running second.
The ranked positions are determined by a points system applied to group races on a sliding scale of points first to eighth and confirms the dominance that Barcia Bale is having on the stud scene in Australia.
Fabregas continues to prove that he is an old marvel with so many of his stock racing in consistent style in feature races around the nation including the likes of Dundee Osprey, the triple G1 winner, who finished a close second in the G1 Sandown Cup in May.
